Decorative & Polished Concrete
Thank you for choosing America’s Floor Source for your Decorative Coatings or Stained/Polished Concrete needs. In order to make the installation process as simple and efficient as possible, it is important that you carefully read and understand our installation policies set forth below. To efficiently and properly install your Decorative Coatings or stain and/or polish your concrete on your installation day, our installation crews will require the following:
YOU NEED TO KNOW
Accessibility to Installation Area
Our installers will need total access to the areas where the Decorative Coatings are to be installed or concrete is to be stained and/or polished. Safe and complete driveway access for installation vehicles is required in order to allow proper delivery of all materials and equipment. For interior installations, the building or home must be completely closed in, with outside windows, doors and thresholds in place. In addition, please make sure that all other trades (including wet trades such as drywall, painting, staining, etc.) have completed their work and have removed all of their equipment prior to our arrival. For everyone's safety, please have all pets removed from the area where Decorative Coatings are being installed or concrete is to be stained and/or polished.
Site Conditions, Electric, Lighting & Water
Installations are weather permitting. Proper installation of your (a) epoxy/metallic Decorative Coatings requires that the surface of the floor and the ambient temperatures must be above 60 degrees Fahrenheit and the ambient relative humidity in the area below 90%; (b) polyaspartic/flake Decorative Coatings requires that the surface temperature of the floor must be above 32 degrees Fahrenheit and the ambient relative humidity in the area below 90%; or (c) Stained/Polished Concrete requires that the surface temperature of the floor must be above 40 degrees Fahrenheit and the ambient relative humidity in the area below 90%. We will take moisture readings on the day of installation and readings above 5.0 may delay install or require a moisture mitigation system to be installed. After Decorative Coatings are installed or concrete is stained and/or polished, where applicable in interior installations, HVAC and humidity controls must be permanently and continuously working, keeping the areas at recommended levels. Working electric, adequate lighting and accessibility to running water are necessary for proper installation. America’s Floor Source will not be able to do your installation without permanent electric, lighting, and running water.
Furniture & Other Items
All furniture, equipment, and other nonpermanent fixtures must be removed from the area prior to the installation date. If you are unsure if a particular item needs to be removed prior to the installation of your Decorative Coatings or Stained/Polished Concrete, please consult our sales professionals. If you wish to have Decorative Coatings installed or concrete stained and/or polished under items or furniture that are permanently attached to the structure (work benches, shelving units, radiators, railings, stools, etc.) please have the item(s) removed prior to installation. In the event permanent fixtures remain in place during the installation, AFS will only coat or stain and/or polish up to the permanent fixture and will not coat or stain and/or polish underneath any open areas under it.
Appliances & Electronic Equipment
Appliances with direct water, gas, or electric hookups (such as washers, dryers, all gas appliances, ice makers and commodes) will need to be disconnected prior to our arrival for the installation of your Decorative Coatings or Stained/Polished Concrete. For your safety, we recommend that a gas company or any other licensed company disconnect and reconnect these appliances. Electronic equipment such as stereos, TVs, audio visual equipment, and computers also need to be disconnected and moved prior to our arrival for the installation. Our installers are not responsible for disconnecting or reconnecting any appliances or electronic equipment and failure to have these items removed ahead of time could result in delays or the need to reschedule your installation.
Personal & Decorative Items
We know that some of our customers like to display their crystal, porcelain, china, and other breakables in their cabinets, hutches, and on the surface of tables or other furniture. But this may interfere with your installation, so we ask that you remove anything that may be damaged or broken during the installation process. We also ask that you remove all personal items from the areas where Decorative Coatings or Stained/Polished Concrete will be installed. These items include, but are not limited to, lamps, plants, pillows, crystal, antiques, aquariums, art work, bedding, books, Christmas trees, clocks, collectibles, dishes, guns, safes, speakers, cable wires, vases, and wet bars. America’s Floor Source is not responsible for damage to personal and decorative items which may occur during installation.
Wall Hangings & Draperies
Since these items can interfere with the installation of your Decorative Coatings or Stained/Polished Concrete, please remove wall hangings that hang lower than four feet (tie back drapes so that they are at least 48” from the floor). The only exception to this are those items that are permanently affixed to the wall or considered immovable.
All closets and storage areas where Decorative Coatings or Stained/Polished Concrete will be installed need to be cleared, and all low hanging clothes need to be removed so that there is at least 48” of space above the floor.
Dust & Noise
All installations of Decorative Coatings or Stained/Polished Concrete create dust and noise. We will cover any necessary items in the project area, however you may want to cover all cabinets, furniture, or other immovable objects (even in adjacent rooms), and consider covering all room openings with plastic. Air filters may need to be replaced after installation.
Odor is be expected with Decorative Coatings, however AFS will make efforts to minimize any odors from entering your home for exterior installations and provide proper ventilation for interior installations. Odors make take up to a week to dissipate.
