Window Blind Cleaning

Window Treatment Maintenance

Here are a few helpful tips that will keep your new window treatments looking new, and help extend their lifespan.

Be careful with wood. Water, solvents or abrasive cleaners should not be used on wood blinds or shutters.

Clean with air. The best way to remove dust or debris from hard to reach areas on honeycomb, window shades and shadings is by using a hair dryer on a cool setting or compressed air purchased from an office supply store.

Leave certain things to the experts. Bathtub cleaning or water immersion, ultrasonic cleaning, injection or extraction cleaning and steam cleaning are all specialized professional cleaning treatments.

Try a dryer sheet. Although many aluminum and vertical vinyl blinds are specially treated to guard against static electricity and dust, a simple wiping with an anti-static dryer sheet will do the trick for non-treated window blinds or shutters.

A damp cloth is best for faux-wood. It is best to clean alternative wood blinds and window shutters with a soft damp cloth.
