Rubber Flooring - rubber maintenance and care

Rubber Flooring Maintenance

Rubber flooring is an ideal type of flooring for people who are looking for something that is easy to maintain. Rubber floors are low maintenance because they resist most staining and stand up well to wear and tear. Spills typically mop right up while stains can be scrubbed away effortlessly.

Here are special tips to help you care for and keep your rubber floor looking brand new:

Daily Sweeping Keeps your Rubber Flooring from Taking a Beating

While walk-off mats do prevent dirt and grit from making it inside your house, they do not stop all dirt. It is good practice to remove dust and dirt daily with the use of a vacuum cleaner. Vacuuming your rubber floors daily will keep stones and fine dirt particles from damaging your floor.

Wipe up Grease ASAP

Grease is one thing that can and will leave permanent stains on your rubber floor if it is not cleaned up shortly after making contact. Use a solvent to clean the grease stain immediately.

Strong Cleaners and Abrasive Cleaners are a big No-no

Rubber flooring is no different from other types of flooring, in that steel wool and other abrasive cleaning materials can cause discoloration and leave permanent marks.

Wax Rubber Floors as Needed

Do wax your rubber floors as often as you would your dream sports car. Simply apply a thin coat of wax and let it dry. Once the floor is dry, apply a second coat of wax. It is important to avoid using an excessive amount of wax, as this can cause it to crack apart and peel.

Occasionally Remove Wax Buildup with a Wax Stripper

It is best to remove wax buildup once a year. Following wax buildup removal is the best time to apply two layers of new wax to your rubber flooring.

Do not let Water Sit

If water sits on rubber floors for too long, it can ruin the adhesive that keeps the rubber sticking to the ground, causing the floor to come apart.

If you follow the above rubber flooring tips, your rubber floors will stay in great shape and last for years to come.
